A group can be seen as a virtual set that can have more than one agent associated to it. Generally, groups can be used to group agents that are similar to each other. For instance, if you had an agent installed at 5 different branch locations, you could create a group called “Branches” and associate all the branch agents to that group. 

Groups can be very useful in reducing monitoring template configurations for cases where the same agents need to be used in multiple templates. If we use the example discussed above, suppose that a user wants to monitor network performance between a headquarter location and the 5 branches. Instead of adding each agent manually to the monitoring template, the user simply needs to add the group “Branches” to the template. This effectively simplifies the task at hand and makes it less prone to errors.
